Steven Buchanan joins TSG Consulting

Steven Buchanan has joined TSG Consulting as Senior Regulatory Chemist within the Industrial & Speciality Chemicals team. With over 17 years’ experience working in the field of regulatory science, most recently at ECHA (European Chemicals Agency), Steven will provide chemistry-related support and advice on REACH, biocide and pesticide projects.

With solid technical competence in chemistry, and a thorough understanding of the European regulations applicable within REACH, Steven’s background enhances TSG’s substance identification and physical chemistry expertise. He will support clients, advising them on the information required to complete dossiers, then evaluate the data provided and recommend testing protocols where necessary.

His strong skillset supplements that of our well-established team of chemical experts, enabling us to further enhance our client service. An extra reason for our excitement is that he comes to us directly from ECHA and is therefore able to provide that ‘unique’ insight into the workings of European chemicals regulations from the regulator’s perspective.”

Prior to joining TSG, Steven spent 11 years at ECHA working as a Scientific Officer in the substance identity and data sharing unit. He was involved in the substance identity related aspects of all significant REACH and CLP processes. Immediately prior to this, Steven spent six years as a Regulatory Scientist at the UK’s Health & Safety Executive.

Steven earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with Industrial Chemistry from the University of Liverpool, and is an active member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
