Health Canada to release interim order to regulate certain ultraviolet radiation-emitting devices and ozone-generating devices under PCPA
Health Canada released a statement to inform stakeholders of an upcoming interim order to bring certain ultraviolet radiation-emitting and ozone-generating devices under the Pest Control Products Act (PCPA). The order would include UV and ozone-generating devices used to control, reduce, destroy or inactivate bacteria, viruses or other microorganisms that are human pathogens. Certain devices would also be subject to a pre-market assessment and registration prior to entry into the Canadian market. Some devices may be exempt from this order if they meet certain conditions. The order will be published in spring 2021 and regulatory amendments will come into force in 2022.
