California Department of Pesticide Regulation announces registration and renewal fee increase

August 7, 2024

California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) has shared the proposed pesticide registration and renewal fee amounts following finalization of the Governor’s 2024/2025 State Budget. The announcement follows a webinar held on April 23, 2024 and public comment period which ran from April 23 to May 17, 2024, announced in California Notice 2024-09.

2024/2025 pesticide registration and renewal fees

Per California Notice 2024-12, the proposed fee increases are necessary to support the current and future business functions of the pesticide registration program.

The new fees are:

  • New Product Application Fee: $1,500 (up from $1,150)
  • Amendment Fee: $300 (up from $25)
  • Notification Fee: $100 (up from $25)
  • Annual Renewal Fee: $2,300 (up from $1,525)

DPR will file an emergency rulemaking package in late August, with the new fees expected to take effect by October 1, 2024. Additional notices will be released to inform stakeholders about the emergency regulations and effective date.
