Kelly Rahn, Julie Ownbey, and Milady Brutofsky dive into the efficacy requirements associated with pesticide devices. Unlike traditional chemical pesticides, there are no regulations that define the efficacy data needed to support pesticide devices. The registrant community is left to figure out how best to substantiate the claims being made for their device. Since devices are not registered at US EPA, the efficacy data generated needs to meet the approval of multiple state regulators, each of whom has their own ideas on what is acceptable.
