ECHA adds eight new hazardous chemicals to Candidate List
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) recently added eight new substances of very high concern (SVHC) to the Candidate List. Suppliers, importers and producers of articles containing one of these Candidate List substances have certain obligations and deadlines to meet.
The Candidate List now contains 219 chemicals that may harm people or the environment. The eight new substances are used for a variety of purposes including consumer products such as cosmetics, scented articles, rubber and textiles. Others are used as solvents, flame retardants or for the manufacture of plastic products.

Obligations for suppliers of articles
If your company supplies an article containing a Candidate List substance above a concentration of 0.1 % weight by weight, then your customer should be informed on next supply.
Additionally, you must (under the Waste Framework Directive) notify these articles to ECHA’s SCIP database.
